Time for another round of Berry’s questions. This time inspired by the Geeks’n’Nerds Fair.

1. What do you consider yourself to be? Geek? Nerd? Dork? None of the above? All of the above? – I don’t think I’m smart enough to qualify as a nerd, so that one’s out. I enjoy video games, comic books (of the Franco-Belgian type) and being on the internet, so that would make me a geek. But I’m also socially awkward like a dork. So I guess that makes me… a deek… a gork? Hmm…
2. What was the first computer you ever owned? – The first computer I ever touched was probably my dad’s. That was a commodore 64 or something similar. The first computer that was actually mine used Windows 95, so I must have been 14-15 years old. I know it was faster then my parent’s 486, but I’ve forgotten what it was exactly.
3. When and how did you first get on the internet? – Probably when I first got one of those free dial-up internet trial discs. I mainly remember that lovely modem sound and that you needed lots and lots of patience.
4. Which geek fandom do you subscribe to? – To none really. It’s not that I don’t like Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. I do actually. But I’m not obsessed enough about it to be truly part of any fandom.
5. Star Trek or Star Wars? – Star Trek, because that’s what I remember watching while growing up. I only saw the old Star Wars movies when I was about 20 years old, so it doesn’t feel quite as nostalgic.
6. How Geeky Are You? – I took the test and got 39%. My husband also took the test and got 93%. What can I say? Apparently we complement each other.

Monday Meme on Sunday

… for the SL Movie Poster Challenge.

For a number of weeks now, Strawberry Singh has been providing us with blog memes. But this was the first one that got my creative juices flowing. The challenge was to create a movie poster for your SL Avatar or SLife. Based on either an original movie poster or a completely new idea of your own.

After thinking about it for a long time, I decided to go with a neko version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I don’t have any particular love for that film, I just wanted to go with a classic. And there is a cat on the original poster, that too.

Just a quick note about the credits: all the items I’m wearing have been edited inworld and/or post-processed. I usually try to give an honest representation of things, but this time I threw that right out of the window!

Ariel “Kiss the Girl”

… Week 2 of the SL DisneyBound Challenge.

Finally managed to get this look together. I struggled with this one bit and not just because I wasn’t feeling inspired.

While I was struggling with my case of SL-crashitus, it was time to renew my premium account. And I decided not to and just keep a free account. Ofcourse, along with that, I also had to gave up my piece of mainland. I love the fact that I don’t have to feel bad anymore for not being inworld. Because I seriously felt like I was wasting money. Now I can spend that guilt-free on pixel shoes!

But suddenly not having a spot to rezz stuff and stand on a posestand in your birthday suit, is something I definitely need to get used to. For the first time in years, I’m a regular visitor to the sandbox again! Hmm… nostalgia…

Peter Pan

… Week 1 of the SL DisneyBound Challenge.

Since I started this blog, I’ve done quite a few blogger challenges. But after the Color Challenge came to an end, it took me a while to find a challenge that appealed to me. I was a bit iffy about the DisneyBound Challenge at first, because I’m not a big Disney fan. But then I remembered just how much fun I had had making my Disney princesses-gone-hipsters look. So I went with it anyway.

Well, I was planning to go with it, before I went on my forced SL-hiatus. At the moment I’m already 3 months behind, so I’m not even going to try and catch up. I’ll just be posting these if and when I feel like it.

I’m not dead

… I was just having some technical difficulties.

Well okay, a LOT of difficulties. I’m not sure what happened, but my Second Life experience was so bad for a while, that I really thought I’d have to quit it altogether.

SL had already been a bit unstable before, but shortly after my last post in February, I really started having problems. First I couldn’t detach or attach anything. After that, suddenly all my alpha-layers refused to rezz. Followed by every other texture. Not to mention the lag…

But then the biggest problem started: constant crashing. I usually had time to rezz one bowl of food for my KittyCatS, read one notecard… and that was it. The one way to stay on longer was to walk around constantly. Though that didn’t solve anything. Because as soon as I stopped doing that, to open my inventory or an IM window, you’ve guessed it… I’d crash.

I was pretty much pulling my hair out in frustration at this point (if it would rezz that is). And for I while I gave up on SL completely. And on blogging as well. Afterall, how can you have a SL-blog, if you can’t even log on? I thought about officially closing the blog too, but I still liked playing with my pixel-dolly. So I continued to give SL a try every once in a while.

My latest attempt involved uninstalling all my viewers and trying one I had never heared of before: Catznip. With a name like that, how could this neko not give that viewer a go? And miraculously… it worked! I could stay online and even take pictures OMG!!!

Ahum… anyway, hopefully my luck continues, and I can start posting stuff again in some kind of regular fashion. I really hope so, because I’ve really missed it.

Sorry for the blog being a bit quiet, but this winter’s viruses are still keeping me occupied. To be precise, I am feeling fine. But now the rest my household is busy emptying their stomachs, cat included. Really, the bugs floating around this season… it’s getting ridiculous by now!

I have managed to gain a new life-experience though: having a toddler puke into your cleavage. Interesting experience, I can assure you.
