In the hood

… a new release I couldn’t resist.

New hair, with hood, with kitty ears… I tried to resist, honestly… Really, I did! Just not for a very long time… (Thanks again for the heads-up Xaqueline!)

I tried, for possibly the very first time, to do a close-up. I did make some attempts before, but for some reason my pictures just never came out right, and I deleted them immediately. Turns out that it wasn’t my fault, but a peculiarity of Second Life itself, as explained in this blog post. Pretty amazing how you can be in SL for years, and still learn new things.

Anyway, I also decided to get myself some of Slink’s mesh hands. They have been out for a while, but I still hadn’t decided if I really needed them or not. But since avatar hands look so bad (and I was tired of editing them in pictures to look good), I got them anyway. Still not sure if I made my hands large enough though…

… time for a Look of the Day.

I have, again, been making attempts to clean out my inventory. So far I have sorted a lot of stuff, but haven’t actually deleted anything. So mixed results really.

Anyway, while digging through both old and new stuff, it all came together in this LOTD. The new thing of note, are the neko stripes. They are from c( Two Cats one Cup), which is a new store, so there aren’t many items for sale yet. It’s a collaboration between Ingkeu Soonkyu of Bobtails and Sei Minuet of Lemon Tea and is located on the floor above these stores.

The Cat Lady

… inspired by pipe smoke.

I hate smoking in RL. It’s unhealthy, it stinks and apparently costs loads of money too. But SL-smoking has, of course, none of these problems. So I had no problem getting inspired by this japanese kiseru pipe.

Fellow-blogger Nicandra Laval used this pipe in the Panties for Luna photoshoot. But it was only when she posted her look on her blog, that I noticed it had a cat on it! And of course, if it has a cat on it, I need to have it.

Add to that some bits and pieces from my inventory and a newish Magika hairstyle, and you have a Cat Lady.

Panties for Luna

… a thank you post for Luna Jubilee.

After being our leader through two years of color challenge, we really couldn’t say goodbye without doing a surprise thank-you post! It was Eliza Quixote who got a bunch of us together for a photoshoot… in our panties… obviously. Because we all know Luna very regularly only made half an outfit for her color posts!

So here it is finally. Somewhere between Christmas-diner and “oliebollen”, I managed to put together the very last Color Challenge-look. And I’m not sentimental about it, I just happen to be cutting onions.

Ice Queen

I won’t be home much the coming days, so I won’t be near my pc or Second Life. I will have my tablet, but sadly that doesn’t help me on the SL front.

Madder Lake Deep

… week 51 of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge part II.

Madder Lake Deep. My first thought on that was: Who, in their right mind, would call a color that?! After consulting Wikipedia, I found it’s a traditional lake pigment, extracted from the common madder plant. Lake is in this case not a big puddle of water, but a pigment manufactured by precipitating a dye with an inert binder, or “mordant”, usually a metallic salt.

But I still think it’s a stupid name.

I didn’t have much chance to sit down and play dress-up this week. So, I went with a simple look. Reason for this was my toddler, who was suffering from an ear infection, sore throat and new back molar. Hence, she was not in the best of moods and constantly demanded attention. So that’s why I spend most of the week sitting on the floor, doing jigsaw puzzles…

It’s eventful

… with lots of events! (sorry, couldn’t think of a good title.)

The holiday-season has arrived in Second Life. And I really don’t know which event/hunt/sale I should run to first. Especially because I’m very busy running after my daughter in RL, who has discovered that climbing on a chair enables her to get to sooo much nice stuff. Mostly mommies stuff…

Anyway, I did manage to get a look of the day together, using stuff from just two of the events going on right now. First is the Unhinged festival, which is still going on. So if you haven’t visited yet, go now!

The second is the With Love… Hunt. I haven’t done the entire hunt yet, but I did get Somnia’s offering: the mesh Velvet Shimmer Dresses. The gifts in this hunt aren’t free, but in this case you get 6 different colored dresses for your L10. So that is *does calculations* well, almost for free really.
