Belle and the Book

… a blogger challenge by Xaqueline Seda.

A couple of days ago Xaqueline added a picture of Disney princesses-gone-hipsters onto Plurk, stating how she wanted to recreate those looks in SL. And she asked the readers which Princess they would like to be. That simple question quickly turned into a blogger/Flickr challenge.

My princess of choice was Belle. I didn’t exactly copy her, but I hope I captured the overall style of her. And yes, ofcourse, she turned into a neko Belle!

Alice Blue

… week 6 of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge part II.

This week’s colour had me baffled. The swatch looked exactly like white to me, but the name said it was blue?! I seriously questioned my sanity, until a bit of quick research revealed it was indeed blue. Just extremely pale.

I didn’t really have any items in this kind of white blue. So I choose a shirt by Pig, in the palest kind of blue I could find, and paired that with white clothes and blue accessories. If you’d throw it all in a blender (without me ofcourse!) it would come out a perfect Alice Blue.

… week 2 of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge part II!

Not sure how it’s possible, but I had forgotten how difficult the color challenge can be. Tons of stuff in the old inventory, but nothing in the right color. It really defies all logic. In the end I did what I’ve been doing all along.

Pick something, squint a bit and say: Yeah that’s exactly it!

With Love

When hunts were a new thing in Second Life, I really liked them. But as more and more hunts were organised, I really started to develop a case of hunt-burn out. Thankfully, around that time, I discovered the Seraphim blog. Knowing just what you’re looking for, is a big motivator.

But sometimes you still get surprising items. In this case my shoes. Nothing wrong with them, mind you. But the HUD had me totally baffled.

A glow option? On shoes? Why on earth would I want my feet to glow like toxic waste?

I like Lemon Tea

… and I also like their new Tinsel Tree Dress.

As soon as I saw a picture of Lemon Tea’s offering for the latest edition of Perfect WARdrobe, I knew I had to have it. Just the right amount of Christmas vibe, without being cliché. The dress is a fully rigged mesh that can’t be modified. So to give more fitting options, you also get a no top/rigged skirt and an unrigged modifiable mesh top. It also comes with alpha layers.

The top half of the fully rigged version did not fit me. Not even a little bit. So I tried the rigged skirt/unrigged top option and that fitted me a lot better. It still showed a bit more boob then I liked however, so I paired it with a black shirt. You know, to keep this blog decent 😉

The Tinsel Tree Dress is available in gold, silver, red and green. All colours come with both silver and gold trim.

Leg warmer Love

… because I love me some new leg warmers.

Winter is fast approaching, so it’s time to bring out my favourite SL accessory: leg warmers. I already had quite a selection of them in my inventory, but all of them are basically made to go with flat shoes or boots. So when G-Field released leg warmers specifically made for high heeled shoes, I immediately fell in love.

These cute knitted leg warmers come in 12 colours and have 3 different heel shapes: basic, straight and chuncky. They come in 4 basic sizes but are also modifiable. And, if all else fails, they also come with alpha layers. So they should fit pretty much everyone.

I’m wearing them here with shoes from other brands (Nardcotix,Kookie and Deco to be precise) So it’s not just G-Field shoes that fit these leg warmers. Though they will obviously fit as well.

Noob Style

… for the Newbie Style Challenge II.

The rules for this challenge are quite simple: dress an avatar for less then L$550, with items obtained between November 4th and December 31st. I really liked that idea. So I blew the dust of my alt and went shopping!

I decided to only use freebies, dollarbies and (if the group was free to join) group-gifts. In total I spend about L$35, but didn’t end up using everything I bought. I also decided to buy a shape. Yes, you can of course make a shape yourself. But making a good shape isn’t easy. And, in my opinion, not something my “newbie” should be attempting on her first day inworld.

There are two places that are very good for newbies to visit. The Free Dove and Free*style. Both offer a nice selection of items to get a new player started, like a basic AO. Say goodbye to the newbie waddle!
