…week 7 of the SL Weekly Words Challenge.
I’m a bit late with this post. I immeditately had an idea what i wanted to do for “peace”…. and then I forgot all about it. But better late then never.
So my idea was peace pose + hippie look. The pose was easy, I knew I had one in my inventory. The dress was easy as well. I’m not normally a hippie type but I do know one hippie store, and that is Sari’s. So I tp-ed over to the store.
I soon realised that nothing had changed there since my last visit and then I remembered why. Quite a long while ago now, the owner Sari Telling, send a group notice stating that she wouldn’t be online for a long time because of health issues. She seemed hopefull about returning to SL at the time, but looking at the store I couldn’t help but wonder how she was doing. No matter how colourfull and happy the store seemed, it suddenly looked a bit sad.
The store was still there though, so I guess I will have to find my peace in that.

…week 47 of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.
I thought this week’s color might be easy, because a little search in my inventory uncovered a couple of khaki items. Unfortunately they were all khaki green, instead of Luna’s khaki yellow. I didn’t know khaki could be yellow, but apparently it can be. So I threw the word khaki out of the window and went with just the color sample.
Both the pants and the dress are past hunt items. The Seasons Hunt and the Waffle Fox Hunt respectively. Some past TDR shoes and a blonde hairdo complete this week’s look.
This post is kind of short, but I have to get back to RL. Because.. it’s my daughter’s first birthday! So I’m off to find some more cake… mmm, cake…

… for this Second Life evolution.
This post is NOT for a blogger challenge ( oh what a shock)… Well kind of anyway. I recently read about a group that Harper Beresford had started on Flickr. She was basically inviting people to show the evolution their avatar had undergone through the years. I really liked that idea, so voilá: here is Sama Yalin through the years.
I was not exactly spoiled for choice when I was putting this picture together. Untill about a year ago (read before starting the Color Challenge) I hardly ever took pictures of myself. Especially in 2008 for some reason. I only managed to find one picture from that year.
All the pictures are old profile pics (except for the 2011 one). Luckily I updated my profile regularly, or I would have had no pictures whatsoever. It’s a bit of a shame that I didn’t realise back then that taking pictures, and in that way documenting things for the future, is just as much fun in SL as it is in RL.
Looking back at “myself” now, I’m surprised at how little I really changed. The only major change is loosing my butterfly wings and gaining my neko persona. But the rest of it has actually more to do with the technical aspects of SL, then with my personal taste. I guess it’s not really that surprising. After all it’s still the same person with the same tastes sitting on the other side of the computer screen.
Makes me wonder what we will all look like in another 5 years. Only one way to find out…
…week 4 of the Alphabet Challenge.
Yet another mix of old and new items. I had prepared this look about a week in advance, but ended up posting it a day later then planned. The reason? One of my KittyCats was missing!
I know it’s completely silly to worry about a virtual pixel cat, but I still felt pretty bad when I logged in and he was nowhere to be found. Not on my parcel, not on the neighbours parcel, not on my HUD and not in my inventory.
I didn’t immediately go to customer support, because I kind of thought it was just me. Recognise this scenario? You can’t find something, but as soon as you ask for help, it immediately turns up? Right under your nose preferably?
So anyway, in the end I did ask for help and filled in a support ticket on the Kittycats website. Luckily their customer support turned out to be very good and before I knew it my missing cat was dropped back in my virtual arms. And yes the return of that bunch of pixels made this SL cat-lady very happy.
Silly, I know. But I don’t care.

…week 46 of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.
When the color for this week was announced, I really wanted to hiss. Because I had just used my one and only brick-colored item in my look for week 44! So for this week some shopping was needed. (Not that I really need an excuse for that, but nevermind.)
I finally decided on this red tunic, which is Fishy Strawberry’s current offering at The Dressing Room. The hair was last week’s FLF item by fri.day, but I only unpacked it today. Just wondering… is buying new stuff but not unpacking it a symptom of being a shopaholic? Hmmm…

…week 7 of the SL Weekly Words Challenge.
I immediately had an idea what I wanted to do for “right and wrong”: create a look with a devil/demon and an angelic side. What I wasn’t so sure of, was if I could actually execute my idea. But I thought it would make a nice challenge for my editing skills and who knows, I might actully learn something from it.
It was a big challenge, but I got there in the end. I’ve put my before and after pictures in Luna Jubilee’s SL: Before & After group on Flickr, for those who are interested. (Please note the weird lines SL put on my original shots. Is anyone else having that problem as well?)
I’m still not totally happy with the end result, but I’m sure I can’t do any better with the skills I have right now. I see more tutorials and practising in my future… And now a double style credits list:

…week 3 of the Alphabet Challenge.
And C is for…. CAT! I bet you didn’t see that one coming! But anyway, finding a look to match the letter C, proved to be a trip down memory lane for me. The only items in this look that are (reasonably) new are the hair and the eyes.
The first thing I re-discovered were my Magika skins. I bought those at a discounted price in 2009, when they were about to be discontinued. I wore them constantly for quite some time. And looking at them now, I wonder why I stopped wearing them.
An even older item is the dress. It’s by Canimal and it could well be the very first thing I ever bought in Second Life. That was back in 2007… Wow I suddenly feel very old. *checks herself for wrinkles and grey hairs*
