I’m no stranger to looking cute, but even I was surprised at how completely kawaii this look turned out. Must be all the pink…

Anyway, the hair I’m wearing for this Bubblegum Weekend is an old easter gift from Magika. It’s one of those things that you don’t want to delete, because you think you might be able to use it. But in the end you never find anything you can use it for. At least it served a purpose now.

Liver

…week 43 of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.

My look for this week was a bit of a rush job. I was so busy this week I actually forgot to put a look together… ooops. So I combined an old hunt prize with my new mesh pants. Didn’t I already warn you I would be buying more of this mesh clothing?

So this week’s color is liver… I really didn’t expect that to be some kind of grey, but something more bloody. Probably because I immedately had to think of a scene from Monty Python’s Meaning of Life called “Live Organ Transplants”. In case you don’t know it, here it is:

My first taste of mesh

… and I liked it!

I got a group message from Jane today, announcing the release of the brand’s first mesh clothing. I had heard about Linden lab’s plans to introduce mesh to Second Life, but I didn’t know it had arrived.

But arrived it has. And if my first purchase, this long skirt, is anything to go by, it is here to stay. The movement on this skirt is amazing. It moulds itself to your avatar, no matter what pose you are in. I actually didn’t do any photo editing to the pictures of the skirt. It really looks this good!

I was a bit low on Lindens, so this was the only thing I bought. But I’m sure I will be back to buy some more things! There is one thing to keep in mind though: you need a mesh-enabled viewer to make this work. So how I look to people who use a different viewer is a bit of a mystery for now…

It’s a Look of the Day

…and it’s for Bubblegum Weekends.

I’ve known about the Bubblegum Weekends Challenge for a while now, but never got around to participating. Untill now! I’m not sure red is really “bubblegummy”, but it IS an unnatural color. So I guess it fits the rules.

So where is all the stuff from? The hair is by Truth, from the Collabor88 event. No further info about that needed I think. I you haven’t heard of it yet, you’ve probably been living under a rock the past few weeks. The dress is by Vanitas Vesture, at the Albero Summer Gacha Festival. And the necklace is a group gift by The Plastik. The shoes are by Nardcotix and were a past hunt prize, if I remember correctly.

The pose is by Status and part of a set called Priss. It was sneakily dropped on me by Gidge Uriza. And it will be on sale for Moody Monday!

Chartreuse

…week 42 of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.

I didn’t think it was possible, but I hated this week’s color. So much so that I couldn’t find the energy to go on a shopping trip for this one: I decided to do my shopping on the marketplace.

I don’t usually shop on the marketplace. Mostly because it is so difficult to search. But with chartreuse I didn’t have this problem, because there are only 126 “chartreuse” items on the whole marketplace! After narrowing it down to apparel, there was even less to search. A little dig in my inventory made this week’s look complete.

But now for something completely different: shadows in Second Life. They are giving me gray hairs! Literally. Since the latest update, turning on shadows doesn’t create shadows, but it turns certain parts of my hair white. How does that happen?! Second Life just keeps amazing me…

Deliberate

…week 3 of the SL Weekly Words Challenge.

With english not being my first language, the first thing I did for this week’s challenge, was look for a dictionary. Because this word evoked two very different meanings for me. Apparently this was not some mistake by me. Deliberate actually can mean two things:

1. Intentional or planned(often of something bad)
2. Describes a movement, action or thought which is done carefully without hurrying.

I pondered over this word for a week, but in the end I kept coming back to the first thing that popped into my mind: London and the deliberate acts of violence and destruction that took place during last week’s riots. To keep it light though, I decided on a happier picture of London.

And that’s how, for this week’s word, I found myself on the Second Life version of Big Ben.

Jazzberry

…week 41 of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.                                          

This was without a doubt the most difficult color so far. Hopefully it will remain te most difficult color all the way to the end… I really hope so.

As always I started out with an archaeological dig through my inventory. But everything I found was either too purple or too pink. And it was pretty much the same thing during my shoppingtrip: too purple and too pink. Finally I ended up at the discount section at E! and picked up this dress. It is still not the perfect color, but I decided to hide that fact with a lot of accessories.

But then I tried to snap some pictures…I only crashed four times I think, might have been more. Turning on shadows finally worked, but made my skirt prim disappear (can anyone explain that one?). And while trying to get on my poser I ended up like this:

Wants and Needs

…week 2 of the SL Weekly Words Challenge.

This week’s words didn’t immediately evoke an image for me. Untill I logged in and was jumped by my hungry Kittycats.

I need to buy food for them and for that I need to spend far too much Lindens already. Yet I still want more cats. I want to keep every kitten they breed for me.

I need it!… uhm… Want it!… uhm… Okay now I’m confusing myself.

Saying goodbye to Grixdale

…because Grixdale will be closing its doors soon.

It is a sad thing to hear about a store closing, but it is understandible. The creator behind a brand changes and evolves over the years, so it makes sense that their activities within SL change as well. Luckily for SL as a whole, Grixdale’s owner Tyr Rozenblum won’t be leaving us. She will instead now focus on her other store Aura.

I have to admit that I haven’t been a Grixdale costumer for very long yet. I only discovered the store a couple of months back, when it was rebranding from its old name Tyranny Designs. I liked the store so, to be kept up to date, I did the logical thing and joined the VIP-group. Unfortunately I had to learn through the feeds that Grixdale was closing. Because SL managed to swallow all three (I repeat THREE) notices that were send about this. Makes me wonder what other important things I may have missed…

But anyway, on to the practical information: Grixdale will officially close its doors on August 31, 2011.  Untill then all items in the shop will be priced at 100L or less. The Aura VIP-group will be free to join untill August 10.
